Senator Andrew McLachlan CSC CStJ was elected by a joint sitting of the Parliament of South Australia to serve as a Senator for the State in 2020. In 2022, he was elected by the people of South Australia to the Commonwealth Parliament to continue his service as a Senator for South Australia.
The Senator served as the Deputy President of the Senate in the 47th Parliament. Ahead of being elected to the Senate, he served as President of the South Australian Legislative Council. He was a member of the South Australian Parliament from 2014 to 2020.
The Senator is a Veteran of Afghanistan and keen conservationist. Prior to entering public life, he enjoyed a professional career in finance and law.
