Sustainably Geeky is a podcast for the everyday environmentalist! The show features a group of average people with one thing in common: a healthy respect for the environment, and a desire to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Each episode we’ll tackle a new subject and will feature guests occasionally to help us go in depth on some of our more complex topics. Whether you’re a hardcore treehugger or have a mild curiosity about the environment, we hope you’ll learn something! Feel free to share your green life hacks and ideas for future shows.
The ocean provides invaluable ecosystem services enabling the survival of most life on Earth, regardless of whether it lives in the water or near the coast. The ocean also provides ample recreation and tourism opportunities. Alex Fogg from Destin-Fort Walton Beach (DFWB) joins us to discuss marine conservation, eco-tourism and how DFWB is merging the two to help protect local resources and the communities that rely on them. He offers real world examples of how this coastal community is adapting to a changing environment, while engaging both visitors and locals to protect and enhance local ecosystems.
