On The Flinch, The Forum, And The Sister You Were Taught To Compete With
Content note: this episode includes discussion of online harassment, body commentary, & real stories directed at brown women.
There is a moment that happens to almost every brown woman, and almost none of us talk about it. You see another brown woman win, her engagement, her promotion, her business launch, her trip, her new relationship and before your manners catch up, your body does something. A tightening. A drop. A flinch. Then there is the version of the flinch that grows up. The anonymous forums. The group chats picking apart her body. The restaurant table pulling up her profile. The aunties we said we would never become, but with new tools.
In this episode, I open with my own experience as a target of those forums, and then make the harder pivot. We are all on both sides of this. Until we name the code we were trained on, none of us escape it. This is the most honest conversation we have had on the show about why brown women police each other, what it is actually costing us in money and network and love, and the specific moves you can make this week to put the textbook down.
Inside this episode:
- The six-lesson curriculum brown women were raised inside, and the one nobody saw coming.
- Why the picking-apart is almost always a projection, the reframe that changes everything.
- Four ways the flinch is silently draining your income and career.
- The friendships, weddings, and family relationships you are losing to comparison.
- Five moves you can make this week to start rewiring it.
THE WEALTH SUMMIT, FALL 2026 – STOPS IN TORONTO, VANCOUVER, & CALGARY
This conversation does not end here. This fall, I am hosting an in-person summit for the women who are tired of competing and ready to build with each other instead. A room full of brown women funding brown women, learning the money moves nobody taught us, and walking out with a network worth more than any portfolio. Spots are limited and waitlist members get first access plus early-bird pricing.
